The process of developing a product and introducing it to the market is always a thrilling challenge. Samsung Electronics has been taking on the challenge by considering whether this product can excite customers' hearts and furthermore, whether it can become a 'game-changer' that changes customers' lives.
If we look at the process of product creation, 'design' makes innovative technology shine, and 'technology' turns dreamed designs into reality. Only when design and technology are in perfect balance and create synergy, a product that provides better value to customers' lives is completed. The harmony between innovative technology and design is what Samsung Electronics is most confident about. We always dream that the Samsung Electronics products created this way will harmonize with the lives of our customers and create a positive future.
To this end, we have worked with Samsung designers to establish a new design direction for Samsung Electronics, looking toward 2030. Design Identity 5.0 (DI 5.0): Essential∙Innovative∙Harmonious(One)no see. We would like to talk about the vision of what kind of future Samsung Electronics products, which have been updated through DI 5.0, will envision.

About 1,500 Samsung Electronics designers working in seven global design studios around the world strive to find the optimal way to solve the daily concerns and problems of global customers with different cultures and tastes. At the center is Samsung Electronics' design philosophy established in 1996, 'Inspired by Humans, Creating the Future'.
As people's lives and ways of experiencing are constantly changing, we have redefined and developed our design direction based on a 'people-centered' design philosophy at each key point. The newly established DI 5.0: essence, innovation, and harmony is the direction of Samsung Electronics' design toward 2030. Reflecting this, we are continuing to introduce electronic products that are part of our daily lives, such as smartphones, TVs, refrigerators, and all-in-one washers and dryers, this year.
Essential, innovative, and harmonious design
‘Design that pursues essence’ refers to a design that focuses on the original function and use of the product. A refined design that eliminates unnecessary formulas and clutter and fits most comfortably with the essence of the product provides an optimized experience for users. This year, the Galaxy S24 series applied a design that focused on the essence, allowing users to intuitively experience the original functions of mobile products with a unified form and thin, uniform bezel. A viewing experience with an Infinity Air design that makes the TV look as if it is floating in the air. We introduced a TV with improved usability and an integrated washer and dryer that maximized space efficiency and eliminated unnecessary elements in terms of design, leaving only the essence.
We seek to pursue ‘innovation with purpose’ that can bring meaningful changes to customers’ lives, rather than simply novelty. A TV that maximizes the immersive experience by automatically upscaling existing low-resolution images to 8K with AI technology, an AI-based robot vacuum cleaner that recognizes the floor, object, and space on its own to perform optimal cleaning, and a doctor who overcomes language barriers. The real-time interpretation function of smartphones, which enables communication, can be said to be a representative result of meaningful innovation that adds creativity to new technology.
‘Harmonious design’ embodies the will to create products that create harmony between products and people, and further encompass society, the environment, and various values. SmartThings, which provides a convenient experience by connecting products to each other and controlling them remotely, and 'Music Frame', a framed speaker that harmonizes with the space. Design that harmonizes with each other and with the customer's daily life rather than revealing its own existence. We will continue to pursue.
