According to reports from ZDNet KoreaApple plans to upgrade the 4th generation low-cost smartphone model iPhone SE. The company will remove the Home button and design it in a modern edge-to-edge screen style.

In November 2023, Samsung, BOE and Tianma were all discussing with Apple to provide OLED panels for the new iPhone SE model. The above report confirms that idjdnh Samsung withdrew from negotiations due to price issues, although there is still inventory of OLED panels for iPhone 14.

Samsung offers the lowest price of about 30 USD for each screen panel. Apple objected and proposed a price in the range of $20. Therefore, Apple and Samsung were unable to reach a common agreement on the price of OLED screens.

“Accepting low profits for an older generation product is not really reasonable, while the company already has abundant revenue from producing screens for high-end iPhone lines,” said a Samsung representative. .

This makes BOE and Tianma potential suppliers. However, because Tianma has not yet met Apple's strict quality requirements, Chinese screen manufacturer BOE will likely be the main panel supplier for the new low-cost iPhone model.

Chinese display manufacturer BOE Technology is now a supplier to both Apple and Samsung. BOE started producing screens for the iPhone 12 in 2020. In 2021, the company was responsible for 10% of all OLED screens for iPhones, shipping 16 million units for Apple.

iPhone SE 4 is expected to have the same design as the iPhone 14 with a 6.1-inch OLED screen, Face ID, USB Type-C charging port, Action button and “rabbit ears” cutout with thin screen bezels.
