Android Authority: Galaxy AI can skyrocket the number of users of native applications on Samsung smartphones

Samsung creates a number of native applications for its Galaxy smartphones, from Gallery, Notes, Calendar to Internet (web browser). However, not everyone is attached to applications in Samsung's ecosystem.

Android Authority conducted polls on its website, YouTube channel, and X (formerly Twitter) account asking Galaxy smartphone users how they use Samsung apps. The results show that although Samsung applications are becoming more popular, few people still rely on them.

Android Authority is a popular website specializing in news, reviews and guides related to Android and devices running this operating system, including smartphones, tablets, and smart watches. The site offers detailed articles, videos, and reviews of Android products and services, as well as the latest tech industry news. Android Authority is also a large community for Android fans and a place where they can share opinions, exchange knowledge, and discuss with each other.

On Android Authority's website, only 9% of 2,600 voters said they use original Samsung applications on their Galaxy smartphones. 64% of people revealed using a combination of Samsung applications and alternative applications, with alternative products mainly coming from Google. 27% of survey participants do not use Samsung apps at all and only rely on substitutes.

“Dialer (dialer), Contacts (Contacts), Messages (Messages), Gallery (Gallery), Calculator (calculator) of Samsung. Mail, browser, calendar and app store from Google,” one user said, echoing what Android Authority saw in comments on the site's polls.

That opinion is also reflected in a poll on Android Authority's YouTube channel. This poll received more than 4,700 votes. However, the majority of Android Authority's YouTube audience has completely rejected Samsung's apps in favor of other options.

“I use a Galaxy S20 but prefer to use Google apps or alternatives to Samsung apps. If there is a way to uninstall them, I will do so” is a comment from a Galaxy smartphone user participating in a poll on Android Authority's YouTube channel.

Another Galaxy smartphone user said: “I use Samsung essentials such as Phone, Messages, Gallery, Camera, Clock) , Calculator and Health”.

On X (formerly Twitter), Galaxy smartphone users expressed how they also use alternative applications instead of just sticking with applications from the Korean company. Of the 990 votes the poll collected on X, 43.6% said they do not use Samsung applications at all.

Although polls reflect that Galaxy smartphone users do not want to “put all their eggs in Samsung's basket”, comments show that the Korean company is definitely on the right track when it comes to bringing new features to its native app. mine.

“Now, I use all the original Samsung apps because they have more features. Only Gmail and Google Messages are exceptions,” one person said.

With One UI 6.1, Samsung is bringing many exciting artificial intelligence (AI) features to new and old smartphone models, including the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, with positive impacts. greatly affects user awareness of the company's applications.

“Samsung Calendar with Reminder is really the reason I chose the Galaxy S24 over the Google Pixel 8. The month view is invaluable with everything listed, good utility and doesn't bother me using an online calendar like Google Calendar . I've also grown to love the translation/style/spelling and grammar/collection features with built-in AI. I just turned on the data only processing mode on the device and it's like an iPhone in terms of privacy,” said the Galaxy S24 owner.

“I use Google apps but they get worse and worse. When Samsung's in-app features catch up and become more seamless with each other, I may return to them,” one user commented.

Although the balance is currently not in favor of Samsung applications, it does not mean that users do not find them useful. In fact, as Samsung brings more AI features to its Galaxy smartphones, we may even see more users relying solely on native apps and abandoning alternatives.

From March 28, users of Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 series smartphones and Galaxy Tab S9 series tablets can update to One UI 6.1 to experience the Galaxy AI suite like on the Galaxy S24 series.
